Megan grew up in St. Paul, joined the Army at 25, and served 8 years in the reserves. She worked full-time while raising 3 children. Balancing the demands of military service, parenthood, and work wasn’t easy—but Megan met each challenge head-on.
In the winter of 2021, Megan’s health declined. As medical challenges mounted and the home she was renting sold, Megan and her children were suddenly without a home. It was a deeply difficult time—but Megan’s determination never wavered.
Megan reached out to Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans, an organization that helps veterans experiencing homelessness. They directed her to Solid Ground where her family advocate, Hailey, helped her find a home in HomeFront: Solid Ground’s permanent supportive housing program for Veterans and their families.
Now, Megan has a new lease on life: a safe and stable home for her and her kids to grow, make new memories, and be together as a family.
Megan credits her success to Solid Ground. “I have a great relationship with my Family Advocate, Hailey. She is always there when I need help with paperwork or when I need advice, she’s always there to sit and listen.”
Hailey says that Megan is “endlessly determined—no matter what obstacles come her way, she faces them head-on with strength and persistence”.
Megan just accepted a job offer to work in the school district as a para-monitor. Her children are now thriving in school and the family’s future is bright!
