What’s Happening at Solid Ground

Eileen’s Story

A young mother, Eileen, and her 10-month old daughter came to us after surviving domestic violence and years of instability. At just 23, she had faced challenges with confidence, budgeting, home management, and parenting skills—barriers made even heavier by the trauma she carried. She suddenly found herself navigating life alone with her daughter and she struggled with fear and uncertainty for their future.

When Eileen started working with her family advocate at Solid Ground, small breakthroughs began to emerge. With consistent check‑ins, gentle encouragement, and a safe space to talk, she started opening up about her experiences. She began to find pride in managing daily routines on her own, keeping her home tidy, and making decisions with her daughter’s stability in mind. These early steps marked the beginning of real change.

Gradually she began to rediscover her strengths, envision her family’s future, and take meaningful steps toward a safe and stable future with her daughter. Today, she is on her lease independently, rebuilding her confidence, and exploring employment and parenting classes to be the best mom she can be.
